About the Role:

As a Battery Validation & DVP Engineer at Hero MotoCorp Ltd., you will be a key player in
our Research & Development (R&D) team located in Jaipur. Your primary focus will be on
validating lithium-ion batteries and developing robust Design Verification Plans (DVP) to
ensure that our battery systems meet both regulatory requirements and industry
standards. This purpose-driven role involves preparing and executing DVPs, analysing
battery testing data, ensuring compliance with both Indian and global test standards
(such as AIS156, UN38.3, R136, etc.), and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
within our battery production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

DVP Preparation & Execution:
o Develop comprehensive Design Verification Plans for batteries and battery
components, ensuring that all tests align with regulatory and performance
standards.
Battery Testing & Data Analysis:
o Conduct battery performance and abuse testing; carry out detailed
analysis of test data to evaluate battery performance and identify areas for
improvement.
Simulation & Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with relevant safety protocols and test standards for
Li-Ion batteries, including AIS156, UN38.3, R136, among others.
Technical Documentation:
o Prepare detailed documentation and reports on test results, including
failure analysis and recommendations for countermeasures.
Collaboration:
o Work closely with battery system and design engineers to define
applicable tests and troubleshoot issues during validation.
o Coordinate with test labs to ensure smooth execution of validation
activities and integration of test results.
Process Improvement:
o Support root cause analysis and facilitate corrective actions for both
internal and field failures.
o Contribute to refining CAE models and processes based on insights
gathered from physical testing and data analysis.

Required Technical Skills & Knowledge:

Battery Process & Testing:
o Experience in battery process validation, including performance and
abuse testing for lithium-ion batteries.
o Familiarity with battery pack production, including working with various
cell chemistries and formats (e.g., 21700, pouch, prismatic).
CAE and Simulation Tools:
o Proficiency in using tools such as Hypermesh for model creation,
Nastran/LS-Dyna for simulation, and HyperView for post-processing is
advantageous.
Regulatory and Safety:
o Knowledge of national and international test standards (AIS156, UN38.3,
R136, etc.) and safety protocols for Li-Ion batteries.
o Understanding of Battery Management Systems (BMS) testing and CAN
communication is beneficial.
Data Analysis & Documentation:
o Strong analytical skills with experience in preparing DFMEA and detailed
trial reports.
o Ability to clearly document test procedures, results, and propose effective
countermeasures.
Collaboration:
o Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams including battery
system engineers, design engineers, and test labs.
Behavioural Skills:
o Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work with
minimal supervision.
o Adaptability and self-motivation in a fast-paced R&D environment.
o Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder
engagement.
