About the Role:
As a Data Science Analyst at American Express, you will focus on model risk management, especially for AI and machine learning-driven models in marketing, credit, and fraud domains.
You will help build robust frameworks, conduct independent risk assessments, and support regulatory compliance while driving innovation to enhance business impact.
Key Responsibilities:
📌 Manage and control model risk for AI/ML models across enterprise business lines
📌 Conduct gap assessments and develop strong risk control frameworks in line with regulations
📌 Research AI/ML trends and create guidelines to maintain model excellence
📌 Present analytical insights and model validation results to senior leadership and committees
📌 Drive business growth by ensuring accurate, efficient, and innovative modeling techniques
📌 Collaborate across teams to enhance modeling accuracy and efficiency
📌 Support development of consumer profitability and lifetime value models
Requirements:
🎯 Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields; Master’s preferred
🎯 Experience with R, Java, SQL, SAS, or similar data manipulation tools
🎯 Hands-on experience in model development or validation, including knowledge of deep learning and boosting algorithms
🎯 Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills
🎯 Ability to explain complex analytical results effectively to non-technical stakeholders
🎯 Comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and meeting tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
✅ 1+ years in analytics or big data projects
✅ Experience with NLP/NLU and chatbot frameworks
✅ Background in applying advanced statistical or quantitative methods to business problems
