About the Role:
📊 As an Analyst – Data Science in the CFR Analytics & Data Science CoE, you will build and deploy predictive models that drive decisions across credit risk, fraud, and marketing.You’ll use big data and machine learning to target the right customers, underwrite risk, and manage customer experience across the lifecycle, impacting millions of cardmembers globally.

Key Responsibilities:

• 📈 Develop, deploy, and validate predictive models and use them in economic logic to enable profitable decisions across risk, fraud, and marketing.
• 🔍 Analyze large datasets to derive business insights, create innovative solutions, and leverage Amex’s closed-loop network to make more intelligent, relevant decisions.
• 🧠 Innovate with new big data and ML approaches, maintain an external lens on developments in finance/payments/analytics, and clearly structure and present findings to leadership and partners.

Requirements:

• 🎓 MBA or Master’s in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field.
• 🧮 0–2 years of experience in analytics or big data workstreams, with ability to drive project deliverables to achieve business outcomes.
• 🤝 Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in cross-functional, global teams.
• 🧩 Innovative problem-solver who learns quickly, works independently on complex, unstructured initiatives, and integrates well with business partners worldwide.
• 💻 Hands-on skills in SAS, R, Python, Hive, Spark, SQL, plus familiarity with supervised and unsupervised techniques (e.g., decision trees, neural models, reinforcement learning, Bayesian models, MapReduce, feature engineering).

Preferred:

• 🧑‍💻 Expertise in coding, algorithms, and high-performance computing.
