About the Role:
The L4_Deputy General Manager – Plant Environment is responsible for leading the
Environment Management Team at Tata Motors’ plant locations. This role ensures that all
activities, processes, and installations comply with applicable statutory and regulatory
norms, guidelines, and rules related to the environment. You will proactively monitor
changes in environmental regulations, support management in formulating appropriate
actions, and plan & execute environment projects to achieve milestones in quality, cost,
delivery, and performance. Additionally, you will liaise with local, State, and Central
Pollution Control Boards to secure necessary clearances and licenses, while also
developing policies, procedures, training, and communication strategies to promote
adherence to Tata Motors’ environmental and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Orientation – Legal & Statutory:
- Coordinate compliance and enforcement efforts with State/Central bodies to ensure
continuity of licenses, timely clearances, and necessary guidance. - Generate and consolidate reports from plant locations for timely and accurate filing of
mandatory returns. - Coordinate renewal of Consent to Operate (CTO), Hazardous Waste Authorization, BioMedical Waste Authorization, etc.
Operational Responsibilities: - Prepare and execute annual and monthly production planning for maintenance in
alignment with operations. - Monitor the availability of aggregates and parts to ensure zero-line stoppages.
- Oversee data and dashboard management for tracking production sequencing and
maintenance efficiency.
Supply Chain & Demand Fulfilment: - Liaise with Scheduling, Procurement, and Logistics teams to ensure the timely supply of
materials. - Monitor and report on inventory levels, production uptime, and quality issues.
- Escalate material shortages and coordinate corrective actions with relevant teams.
SCM Systems & Process Improvement: - Ensure accurate data input and usage of SCM IT tools and systems; implement process
improvements through training and system enhancements. - Conduct regular audits and maintain high data quality across plant operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or an advanced postgraduate qualification in EMS is preferred.
- Experience: 10 – 15 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, with at least 2 years
in Production Planning within the automotive industry. - Skills/Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Environment Management Systems and regulatory
requirements in the automotive sector. - Experience liaising with statutory bodies to secure clearances, certifications, and
licenses. - Proven track record in planning and implementing environmental installations (e.g.,
Effluent Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants, Rainwater Harvesting, ZLD
Plants). - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure with strong organizational
capabilities.
