About the Role:
The L4_Deputy General Manager – Plant Quality (Powertrain) is responsible for leading the
Environment Management Team and ensuring that all maintenance activities of engine
assembly, quality assurance, and production planning are executed efficiently. This role
ensures that production planning is accurately implemented, quality issues are promptly
resolved, and all processes are compliant with TS16949 standards. You will manage daily
shop operations, analyze quality gate data, resolve customer issues, and drive process
improvements to minimize production disruptions. Additionally, you will coordinate with
various internal stakeholders and lead initiatives to develop manpower and enhance team
skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Quality Assurance:
- Prepare shop production plans and sequence models based on parts availability.
- Oversee engine assembly quality assurance and resolve quality issues.
- Analyze quality gate data to reduce reported issues and ensure zero-line stoppages.
Issue Resolution & Data Analysis:
- Resolve next customer issues from TCF and field reports for engine quality.
- Handle test bed operations for engine performance audits.
- Conduct rejection analysis and system bookings.
- Drive process control through SPC and conduct CTQ parts and process audits in the
engine assembly area
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain and document all data, records, and results in accordance with TS16949
standards. - Ensure adherence to SQDCME targets.
Team & Process Development:
- Lead manpower development and skill enhancement initiatives.
- Coordinate with stakeholders (SQIG, ERC, Manufacturing, Planning) for timely issue
resolution.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering is required.
- Experience:
- 10-15 years of experience in Supply Chain Management and Production Planning within
the automotive industry, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in quality assurance and
maintenance.
Skills/Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of powertrain products, engine assembly processes, and basic engine
testing. - Proficient in diagnostic, troubleshooting, and rectification techniques.
- Understanding of measuring instruments and ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Familiarity with quality documents such as PFMEA and Control Plans.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
