About the Job:
As an Optical Support Engineer, you will provide comprehensive pre- and post-sales
support for Ciena’s global customer base. This role involves addressing customer inquiries,
troubleshooting, and offering remote technical assistance for optical products,
emphasizing fiber optic transport and switching protocols.
Job Responsibilities:
→ Answer incoming customer calls, documenting and validating information for
technical investigation.
→ Provide prompt and professional remote technical support via phone, email, or
chat.
→ Troubleshoot and resolve network faults and configuration issues.
→ Be available for on-call duties and shifts, including holidays and weekends.
→ Collaborate with senior engineers for issue escalation and resolution.
→ Contribute to the technical knowledge base and provide customer feedback to
internal teams.
Education and Experience:
→ Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 0-3 years of related experience.
→ Customer-facing experience is beneficial.
→ Foundational knowledge of fiber optic transport and switching equipment.
→ Basic problem-solving skills with OTN/SONET/SDH or Carrier Ethernet equipment
Candidate Profile:
→ Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
→ Strong interpersonal skills for communicating technical concepts.
→ Availability for onsite training and mentoring for approximately 6 months.
→ Customer-oriented mindset with a commitment to exceptional service.
→ Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
→ Motivated self-starter with excellent time management skills.
→ Understanding of telecommunications systems and optical networking.
→ Familiarity with computers, data communications, and IP networks.
