About the Role:
📱 As a Product Designer, you will rethink interfaces and interactions from first principles to enable open‑ended interactions between people and intelligent agents.
You will define and refine end‑to‑end product experiences for AI entertainment products, partnering closely with product, engineering, and AI research to ship delightful, user‑centric solutions in a fast‑moving startup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 🎯 Contribute to product strategy with a focus on entertaining and delighting users, defining feature areas with high attention to detail and polish.
  • 🧩 Craft beautiful, trustworthy interfaces and interaction patterns that showcase the power of Character.AI’s technology across complex flows.
  • 🤝 Collaborate with PMs, engineers, AI researchers, and other stakeholders to define product vision, strategy, and roadmaps.
  • ⚡ Rapidly prototype ideas (including with front‑end code) to communicate concepts and build excitement, finding creative ways to ship high‑quality work in an ambiguous, resource‑constrained environment.

Requirements:

  • 🧑‍🎨 8+ years of product design experience, ideally on complex workflows, consumer apps, social products, or AI‑first experiences.
  • 📂 Strong portfolio demonstrating user‑centric design, polished UI craft, and innovative interaction paradigms.
  • 🧭 Proven track record of executing end‑to‑end on large, complex products in ambiguous environments.
  • 💬 Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence without formal authority.
  • 💻 Experience with prototyping, especially using front‑end code (HTML/CSS/JS), is preferred.
  • 🤖 Passion for designing scaled, impactful, safe, and beneficial AI technologies.
