🌟Big data expertise gets you into the room. Technical leadership helps you shape what happens next.

At enterprise scale, building a data pipeline is only part of the challenge.

The real work is making it faster, more reliable, easier to maintain, and robust enough to support complex business operations. That requires deep technical knowledge, disciplined engineering practices, and the ability to guide a team through difficult problems.

✈️ Airbus India is hiring a Lead Software Engineer – Big Data in Bengaluru, focused on the Palantir Skywise ecosystem.

For experienced professionals who combine hands-on Skywise development with performance optimization, code quality, and customer collaboration, this is an opportunity to take on a high-impact technical leadership role.

🌟About Airbus:
Airbus is a global aerospace company operating across commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence, and space-related businesses.

Its operations rely on sophisticated digital platforms, engineering systems, and data-driven processes. In this environment, reliable data architecture and efficient software delivery are essential to operational performance and informed decision-making.

The Airbus India team contributes to global programmes and works with international colleagues and business partners.

💡About the Role:
As a Lead Software Engineer – Palantir Skywise / Big Data, you’ll drive technical excellence across Airbus’s Skywise applications and data-processing ecosystem.

You’ll lead end-to-end performance optimization, investigate complex technical issues, establish coding standards, audit source code, and mentor developers.

You’ll also collaborate directly with European customers and business partners, translating requirements into scalable technical solutions while maintaining delivery quality.

This is a specialist position for professionals with substantial, hands-on Palantir Skywise experience—not simply general Python or Spark development experience.

📌Key Responsibilities:

📌 Technical Leadership

  • Understand complex business processes and the architecture of Airbus applications.
  • Design and implement scalable, reliable end-to-end optimization solutions across Skywise.
  • Establish technical standards, coding best practices, and engineering guidelines.
  • Conduct source-code audits and ensure code quality, reusability, and maintainability.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for complex application and data-pipeline issues.

📌 Big Data Engineering

  • Develop and optimize data-processing solutions using Python, PySpark, Spark SQL, Java, and Scala.
  • Apply lightweight data-processing tools such as Polars and DuckDB where appropriate.
  • Improve pipeline performance, application reliability, and processing efficiency.
  • Maintain strong SQL, database, version-control, and CI/CD practices.

📌 Team Mentorship and Collaboration

  • Mentor developers and help teams build maintainable, easy-to-navigate codebases.
  • Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders across distributed teams.
  • Work directly with European customers to gather requirements and manage expectations.
  • Present technical solutions and communicate delivery status clearly.

📌 Delivery and Continuous Improvement

  • Support Agile/Scrum planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify delivery risks and coordinate mitigation plans.
  • Deliver high-quality solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Promote compliance, integrity, and responsible engineering practices.

🎯Mandatory Requirements:
🎯 Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

🎯 7+ years of total IT experience.

🎯 4+ years of hands-on Palantir Skywise development experience.

🎯 At least 3 years in a customer-facing support or service role working with European customers.

🎯 Strong hands-on expertise in Apache Spark, PySpark, and Spark SQL.

🎯 Deep familiarity with Skywise application-building tools, including Workshop, Slate, and Object Explorer / Foundry Ontology.

🎯 Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, with experience in Java and Scala.

🎯 Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.

🎯 Experience with Git version control, CI/CD, and enterprise-scale software delivery.

🎯 Practical understanding of Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP.

🎯 Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.

🌟Preferred Skills:
✅ Polars and DuckDB for lightweight data processing ⚙️

✅ Pandas and data manipulation libraries 📊

✅ SAP and ERP platform exposure 🏢

✅ Performance tuning and data-pipeline optimization 🚀

✅ Source-code auditing and technical governance 🔍

✅ Distributed-team collaboration and international customer engagement 🌍

🎁Why Consider Airbus?
✅ Work on enterprise-scale data and digital engineering solutions.

✅ Apply specialist knowledge of Palantir Skywise and the Apache Spark ecosystem.

✅ Take ownership of technical standards and optimization initiatives.

✅ Mentor engineers and influence software quality across a development team.

✅ Collaborate with international stakeholders and European customers.

✅ Strengthen your technical leadership profile in the aerospace and digital engineering sector.

🔥Career Insight:
A senior engineer’s value isn’t measured only by how much code they produce. It’s also measured by how effectively they improve the code, the team, and the system around them.

At lead level, technical depth must translate into better engineering decisions, fewer recurring issues, stronger performance, and predictable delivery.

For professionals who have built deep Skywise expertise, this role offers a chance to turn that knowledge into wider technical influence.
