🌟Build the Testing Systems Behind Next-Generation Optical Connectivity

Advanced optical technology depends on more than innovative hardware. It also requires precise testing, reliable equipment, and manufacturing systems that consistently deliver performance. Nokia is looking for an experienced engineer who can turn R&D designs into dependable optical test stations on the factory floor.

🌟About Nokia:
Nokia is a global connectivity technology company developing solutions for fixed, mobile, and transport networks. Its research and development teams work on technologies that support the growing demands of AI-era connectivity, including advanced optical networking and photonic hardware.

💡About the Role:
As a Site Engineer in Test Station Development (TSD), you will be part of Nokia’s Product Validation & Test (PV&T) R&D organization. You will develop, deploy, debug, and improve optical test stations used to validate products such as coherent pluggables and TROSA photonic assemblies.

This is an R&D engineering position—not a routine manufacturing technician or pure operations role. You will help transfer hardware, software, fixtures, and test procedures from engineering development into real manufacturing environments.

📌Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, bring up, debug, and optimize optical test stations for performance, reliability, and production readiness.
  • Integrate test stations into manufacturing test flows in collaboration with factory and contract manufacturing teams.
  • Analyse station data to identify performance issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement R&D changes involving test hardware, software, fixtures, and operating procedures.
  • Develop and maintain accurate, repeatable, safe, and compliant test protocols.
  • Troubleshoot station issues and improve test-system reliability on the factory floor.
  • Coordinate with hardware, software, and manufacturing engineers to resolve technical challenges.
  • Represent the PV&T engineering team at manufacturing sites and support knowledge transfer.
  • Mentor colleagues and help manufacturing teams adopt improved test systems and procedures.

🎯Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing optical or electrical test stations, or Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of optical measurement principles and test hardware/software functionality.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environments and travel regularly to sites in Thailand and Malaysia.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience in at least one relevant test-station area: coherent pluggables / photonic integrated circuit (PIC) testing, or TROSA / photonic-assembly testing.

🌟Preferred Skills:

  • Optical test-station and ATE development.
  • Coherent pluggable, PIC, TROSA, or photonic-assembly testing.
  • Electrical design, simulation, and schematic or layout support for test hardware.
  • Fixture design, thermal engineering, and PCB-related work.
  • Experience handling RF and low-frequency electrical signals.
  • Source control and software-driven test infrastructure, including Git or Azure DevOps.

🎁Why Join Nokia?

  • 🔬 Work on advanced optical technologies within an R&D environment.
  • 🌏 Gain exposure to international manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • 🏡 Benefit from flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • 🩺 Access medical insurance, health check-ups, and life and accident insurance, subject to eligibility.
  • 📚 Develop through technical certifications, mentoring, and continuous learning.
  • 🚀 Explore technical career progression, international assignments, and potential relocation support.
  • 🤝 Join an inclusive workplace that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

🔥Career Insight:
For experienced hardware and test engineers, the ability to bridge R&D and manufacturing is a valuable specialization. Combining optical measurement expertise with automation, test software, fixture design, and production troubleshooting can open doors to advanced roles in photonics, optical communications, and hardware validation.
